The Cooking School of the Chaine des Rotisseurs

The purpose of the project - high-quality professional training for young people that will facilitate their integration into the employment circle and society

We all, members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, enjoy wonderful company, pleasant events, good food, a pleasant atmosphere while respecting the rules of the International Chaine des Rotisseurs association. In short, we celebrate and have fun. But something has been missing for us in recent years, somewhere in the background, hidden in the dishes. This something is the additional slot to complete the final pleasure and is called:

"Contribution to the community", initiating an activity to deepen awareness on issues of preserving the art of cooking and the values of appreciating and respecting gourmet food and wine. All this with an emphasis on supporting and assisting the population with special needs and low socioeconomic backgrounds.

The international organization to which we belong, discovered the importance of the issue long ago and established the international foundation called:

ACCR - Association Caritative de La Chaine des Rotisseurs and a portion of our membership in the Chaine of Israel will be donated to a community in need of our knowledge and professional ability without a profit motive.

During many months of searching for the right thing, learning about what is happening in the field in other countries, examining the field and the community in Israel, the former President of the Israeli Chaine, Tami Lancut Leibowitz, and Chico Karolitzki, who is the project manager who planned and built the course in collaboration with Chef Michael Katz, were enlisted - without them this project would not have come to fruition. The Department for the Promotion of Children and Youth at Risk in the Secondary Education Division of the Tel Aviv Municipality allocated the building for us in which we operate the project and of course helped us locate and approve the candidates whom we interviewed and selected through a rigorous screening process. The Rosenstein Association donates the products to the school for the purpose of holding the classes and workshops. The president of the Chaine of Israel, Chef Idan Halperin, is responsible for all activities at the school and the development of the professional program. This is an amazing team whose joint work has led to the establishment of the project: "The Cooking School of the Chaine des Rotisseurs Israel".

The purpose of the selection process is to ensure that the course participants understand the great challenge, are ready for it and are able to meet it both in terms of motivation and personal and environmental ability.

  • The first course opened in 2020 and these days, in 2024, we are approaching the opening of the sixth cycle of the course.

  • Down the road, we intend to open additional professional courses, among other things, on the subject of confectionery.
